Britain and Ireland Bucket List

In just around a month’s time our students studying abroad in Britain, Ireland, Wales, and Scotland will touch down and begin their journeys. So, just as we did for the incoming South African students, we at Interstudy have constructed a new ‘Road Less Traveled’ Bucket List, this time focusing on the UK/Ireland region.

From music festivals, to carnivals, to delicious food, this list will ensure our students’ full immersion into this historic region. Again, this is a rough list highlighting just a fraction of what this part of the world has to offer. I hope to be able to indulge myself within the many cultures that London embodies and force myself to let go of the Americanized perception: We Are the Greatest Nation. Giving in on this selfish idea and being exposed to a different idea, like growing and maturing in a place that is constantly changing. Read more

Borough Market

If you have a free afternoon in London and are interested in food, you absolutely must make a visit to Borough Market. The market is based in the general area of London Bridge and Borough Underground stations. There have been markets held on or very near to the site since at least 1014. The market settled into its current location in 1755. Read more

Alumni Spotlight: Career Focus

Studying abroad with interstudy offers the opportunity to experience new cultures, travel to new places, meet new people, and of course study at an international institution along host country students. On top of all of this, you can also gain new skills and advance your upcoming career. One returned interstudy Alumni, Veronica Marcelo, was able to take advantage of all of these opportunities by participating in an internship with CBS World News in London while studying at the University of Westminster during the Fall of 2009. Taking It All In

This semester, students in the UK and Ireland went on a kayaking excursion to Middle (Muckross) Lake in Killarney, Ireland. I thought this picture just about sums up the experience!
